Speaking on the launch of the app Cllr Tim Mayer said; “Conservative councillors in Coventry have put their money where their mouths are. We have recently said that we believe the city can become a world class hub for IT start-up and technology companies and that we want emulate Silicon Valley in California. All the Coventry Conservative Councillors have paid to develop CovTory. We have developed CovTory to enable all residents to increase engagement with us. From reporting ward issues in real time such as vandalism, parking concerns, poor road signage, fly tipping and much more. You can see news from the city and nationally pushed directly to your phone. We have developed CovTory to give a real time communication tool for all residents no matter what their political view may be. This backs up the message that we work for residents of Coventry all year, not just at election time and not just in the wards we represent”.
The app has been welcomed by Cllr Ken Taylor, Chairman who has worked with Cllr Mayer to get the app online. Speaking on the launch he said; “The introduction of this Coventry Conservative app is a further step forward for Conservatives in Coventry. It'll enable us to communicate in a simple and effective manner with all the residents of Coventry and at the same time enabling them to contact Conservative Councillors very simply. We continue to improve our communication strategy with the hope that all Coventry residents with smart phones /tablets etc will down load this free app and get in touch."
Conservative Councillor, Gary Ridley, also welcomed the development and said;"Last year I unveiled a vision for Coventry, a vision where the city becomes a technology hub and the number one destination for IT investment in the UK. With the development of the CovTory App we're not just embracing the future we're supporting this vision too. Councillors should be as open and accessible as possible and this app will help us to be just that - we're moving with the times."
The Conservative Party Leader in Coventry Cllr John Blundell said; “‘I am very much looking forward to using the CovTory app. Bringing all the different means of communications together will mean our residents will be able to see what is going on and our take on it by simply checking their mobile phone. This really ensures we can pass information in the digital age.”
Cllr Ken Taylor and Cllr Tim Mayer worked with 'A Perfect Pocket' to develop what they state is the most advanced communication tool any local council has open to the public, enabling full and transparent communication between residents and the city councillors.
Colin Blackman, Managing Director, of A Perfect Pocket (APP) said "We are delighted to be working with Coventry Conservatives as they embrace new technology to allow 2-way communication between themselves and the people they represent. The app allows information about important local issues to be advised immediately and gives users of the app the opportunity to provide feedback and their views. Coventry Conservatives are among the first to recognise the power of an app and we wish them every success in using it and developing new ways of keeping locals informed."
