Coventry Conservative Councillors are urging the Council’s Labour leader to show a bit of leadership and call together the major players in the local healthcare economy to discuss better ways of using limited NHS and Social Care budgets.
At Tuesday’s full Council meeting Councillor Tim Sawdon will be moving the following:
‘Council, recognising the funding difficulties facing the NHS and Social Care, instructs the leader of the Council to demonstrate leadership at a local level by organising a healthcare ’summit’ to create an opportunity for local providers to explore ways to better utilise the limited funds available.’
Speaking ahead of the debate Cllr Sawdon commented; ‘we all know the financial difficulties facing the NHS and Social Care but it’s time the local labour members showed a bit of leadership instead of just endlessly complaining. Bringing together the major players in the local healthcare economy would be a first step’.
