Earlsdon Ward Councillor, Allan Andrews, the Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group, is reassuring residents everything possible is being done to move on two groups of travellers who are illegally camped in the area.
One group moved onto the main car park at the War Memorial Park last weekend while a second group has recently moved onto Hearsall Common.
Cllr Andrews, who is also the Conservative Spokesman for Community Safety in Coventry, is working closely with his ward colleague, Cllr Ken Taylor, council officers and local police officers to make sure the groups are moved on as quickly as possible.
Commenting, Allan said: “When groups of travellers move onto council-owned land we have to follow a legal procedure which involves applying to a bailiff to serve an eviction notice.
“I want Earlsdon residents to know that we are carrying out those necessary procedures as quickly and effectively as possible and I am speaking to local police officers who will be keeping a close eye on the two sites over the weekend.”
