Earlsdon Councillor Allan Andrews has presented a petition on behalf of residents urging the City Council to lift parking restrictions in Arden Street.
Residents in the street are growing increasingly frustrated with the parking restrictions, meaning they are often ticketed for trying to park close to their own homes.
76 local residents signed the petition, which was presented by Cllr Andrews to a meeting of Full Council on Tuesday 18 March. The petition will now be subject to a formal Council report, and recommendations will be made to Councillors, hopefully in April.
Commenting on the petition, Allan said: "I've had extensive email communication with local residents about the parking restrictions in Arden Street and about the length of some of the double yellow lines, which are longer than they really need to be for historical reasons. The petition seeks to address the parking restrictions in addition to seeing if we can reduce or remove the double yellow lines in an effort to increase parking provision in Arden Street.
"As part of a development in Arden St/Warwick St, there is also some funding available through Section 106 for a residents' parking scheme, and I am looking into whether that money can be released to introduce some form of residents' parking scheme in this locality, potentially to include Arden Street, Warwick Street, Clarendon Street and Moor Street."
